About The Grove
The Grove is a residential care home in Lowestoft, Suffolk, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays. Smallness is not modesty on our part, it is the design. It is what makes it possible for people here to be known as individuals rather than managed as a group. People here furnish their rooms to suit themselves, help decide what gets cooked, and take part in running the place. Work, college and clubs are what we are supporting, not add ons. Predictability is something we take particularly seriously. For many of those living here, knowing exactly what is happening and who will be on shift is the difference between a settled day and a difficult one, so we plan ahead and explain changes early. When somebody is nearing the end of their life we try to get the small things right: familiar faces, a quiet room, family made welcome at any hour, and no unnecessary fuss. People keep control of their own money and belongings as far as they are able, and where they need help with that we are transparent about it. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather earn that again each year than treat it as settled.
