About Merryfields

Merryfields is a residential care home in Felixstowe, Suffolk. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for families who need a planned break. We keep the list short. Warm rooms, food people finish, help without waiting, and being left in peace when peace is what is wanted. Being at the coast is genuinely useful. A walk along the front, weather permitting, or simply sitting somewhere with a view and some fresh air, does more for most people than anything we could organise indoors. For residents living with dementia we protect the routine and keep the surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the working life, the places and the names, because those are what still connect when a great deal else has gone. When somebody is nearing the end of their life we try to get the small things right: familiar faces, a quiet room, family made welcome at any hour, and no unnecessary fuss. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Families are welcome to arrive unannounced and see us on an ordinary day, because that is the visit that tells you something.
