About Dell House
Dell House is a residential care home in Beccles, Suffolk. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays. We try to be reliable about the unexciting things, because those are what a person actually lives with: meals, warmth, prompt help, clean clothes, and being treated as somebody with a history. Each person has an agreed way of being approached and spoken with. We treat that as basic rather than as a refinement. For residents with physical disabilities we plan the practical side around what somebody can still manage themselves rather than what is quickest for us. For those living with dementia we protect the routine and ask families for the history that makes a person make sense to us. We involve residents in choosing new staff where they want to be, since they are the ones who will be looked after by them. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather be asked hard questions now than explain ourselves later.
