About Us
We are Oxbridge House, a residential care home in Stockton on Tees. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places.
Having people of different ages and very different needs living together works only if support is planned around individuals rather than run to a single routine. We take time at the start to learn how a person communicates, what they manage independently, where they want help and what they would rather nobody did for them, and we write that down and revisit it as things change.
For autistic people and adults with learning disabilities, predictability is a large part of what makes a place liveable. Saying what will happen and when, and then being right about it, is worth more than reassurance. Where a routine matters to somebody we protect it.
Choice runs through the day as far as it can. People decide how they spend their time, and where a decision needs support we support it rather than taking it over. Families and advocates are involved as much as the person wants.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
