About Us

We at The Boat House are proud to offer a welcoming residential care home in the heart of Tamworth, Staffordshire, providing specialist support for adults living with learning disabilities and autism. Our home has been thoughtfully designed to feel just that, a home, where every resident is valued as an individual and encouraged to live life on their own terms.

Nestled within the Tamworth community in the West Midlands, our setting offers residents the reassurance of a peaceful, homely environment whilst remaining well connected to the wider local area. The surroundings provide a comfortable base from which residents can enjoy familiar routines, community outings, and the everyday pleasures that make a house feel like home.

Our specialism lies in supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism, including younger adults who benefit from a care approach tailored to their stage of life. We understand that no two people are the same, and our team works closely with each resident and their loved ones to build a personalised plan of support that reflects individual preferences, aspirations, and needs. In practice, this means encouraging independence wherever possible, celebrating achievements large and small, and creating meaningful daily routines that promote confidence, wellbeing, and a real sense of belonging.

We also offer respite care, providing families and regular carers with the peace of mind that their loved one is in safe, capable hands during short stays. Whether respite is needed for a planned break or in response to changing circumstances, our team ensures that guests are welcomed warmly and supported with the same care and attention as our permanent residents.

Families can take further reassurance from our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection in August 2023, where we were rated Good overall. This rating was reflected consistently across every domain assessed, meaning we were rated Good for being safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led. For families, this offers independent confirmation that the care we provide meets the standards expected of a trusted residential care home, and that our team is committed to maintaining and building upon the quality of support we deliver every day.

Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the care, thought, and emotion involved in that journey. If you are exploring options for a loved one who would benefit from specialist residential or respite care in Tamworth, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please do get in touch to learn more about life at The Boat House, and to discover how we can support your family with warmth, understanding, and genuine care.
