About Us

We are a residential home at Blythe Bridge supporting adults with learning disabilities, autistic people and people living with mental health conditions.

The house is run as a household rather than a service. People living here have their own rooms and their own belongings and a real say in how the place works, from what is cooked to what happens at the weekend. For adults who have often had decisions taken on their behalf, that ordinary degree of control is central to what we are trying to do.

Support is arranged around the individual. For some people the priority is staying well: medication, appointments, noticing early when things are becoming difficult and having staff nearby who know them well enough to see it coming. For others it is about doing more, whether that means work, college, volunteering, managing money with a hand from us, or getting out regularly and keeping up with family. Predictability counts for a good deal here, particularly for autistic people, so we keep our staffing as consistent as we can and avoid changing arrangements without warning and explanation.

Respite stays are available as well as longer places, which can give a family a planned break while the person stays somewhere settled.

Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking for a place for yourself or someone in your family, please come and visit and ask us whatever you need to.

Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?

No. Blythe Bridge is not listed for dementia care on the CQC register. If dementia is likely, choose a home that is, so a second move is not needed later. Source: CQC register

Is there a nurse on site if health needs change?

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?

Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.

Can she bring her cat or dog?

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.

Can a couple stay together?

Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.

Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?

Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.

Do they take younger adults as well as older people?

Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.

Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?

Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
