About Us
Heathfield House is a residential home in Stafford supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We are here to help people live the life they choose, with support sitting quietly behind them rather than directing them.
That means finding out what each person actually wants, which takes time and takes learning how they communicate. Some people tell us directly. Others show us in ways that only become clear once you know them. Either way, decisions get made with the person, and we would rather take longer over a conversation than move faster without them. Routine and predictability matter a great deal here, so we give proper notice of anything that is changing.
People are involved in running the house, in choosing what they eat, in how their own space looks and in what they do with their week. Where somebody wants work, college, sport or regular contact with family, we arrange the support to make it happen.
We offer respite stays alongside permanent places.
We should be open with anyone considering the home. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have examined the inspection findings and are working through them, and we would rather you asked us about it plainly than found out later. Please contact us if you would like to visit.

Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?
No. Heathfield House is not listed for dementia care on the CQC register. If dementia is likely, choose a home that is, so a second move is not needed later. Source: CQC register
Is there a nurse on site if health needs change?

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
