About Sherdley Manor
Sherdley Manor is a residential care home in Warrington, serving families across St Helens and the surrounding area. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, and we offer respite stays for people needing care for a short period or whose regular carer needs a break. Coming to live in a care home is a significant thing to do, and the first weeks matter far more than any account of the building. We spend them learning about the person rather than settling them into our routine. What they did for a living, what they cannot be doing with, what time they have always had their breakfast, whether they would rather be in company or left in peace. Those are small facts, and together they are most of what makes somewhere feel like home rather than somewhere you are staying. The day belongs to the people living it. Getting up and going to bed when you choose, having visitors when it suits you, keeping up with family, friends, church and whatever you have always done. We are here to make those things possible rather than to organise anybody's time for them. We take the practical side seriously too. Food worth looking forward to, medication handled carefully, prompt attention when somebody is unwell, and plain conversations with families when things change. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we go on asking residents and relatives what we could do better.
