About Hawthorn Court
Here at Hawthorn Court, we provide residential care for older adults in the heart of Hebburn, South Tyneside. We are proud to have received a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts in every single day to make this a place where people feel safe, respected and at home. We support a wide range of needs under one roof. Alongside general residential care for older people, we have real experience in supporting those living with dementia, and we work hard to ensure that life here remains as meaningful and familiar as possible for each individual. We also welcome people with physical disabilities and those with visual or hearing impairments, tailoring our approach to suit each person rather than expecting people to fit around us. We are pleased to be able to support younger adults as well, recognising that the need for residential care is not limited to one age group. For those who are not yet ready for a permanent move, or whose family carers need a break, we also offer respite stays. Whether someone joins us for a short period or makes Hawthorn Court their long term home, we want the experience to feel settled and personal from the very first day. The team here takes time to get to know residents properly, their routines, their preferences and the things that matter most to them. We involve families wherever we can, because we know that moving into a care home is a significant step for everyone involved, not just the person moving in. If you would like to find out more about what we offer, or simply want to come and have a look around, please do get in touch. We are always happy to have a conversation.

More about the care at Hawthorn Court

Pack familiar clothes, medication in its original packaging and a note of routines. Ask the minimum stay, the weekly rate and whether a short stay could become permanent.
Dementia Care at Hawthorn Court
Keeping life meaningful and familiar is how the home describes its own approach to dementia, and it is the right aim. Ask what happens when somebody becomes distressed in the evening or tries to leave. Ask how sedating medication is reviewed and with whom. Ask also whether a resident could remain as dementia progresses.

Ask whether residents decide when to rise and eat, and how personal care is managed for somebody who dislikes help. Ask how many staff are awake overnight and how quickly a call bell is answered. South Tyneside usually pays between £620 and £760 a week, so ask how any difference from the fee is met.

Privacy, internet access, visitors at ordinary hours and getting out all count for more at that age. Ask who else of a similar age lives there and what the week offers them.
Physical Disability at Hawthorn Court
Accessible bathrooms and working equipment decide how much help somebody actually needs. Physical disability is named in the registration at Hawthorn Court. Hoists, profiling beds and the right cushion protect dignity as much as safety. Ask what the home holds, who assesses for it, and how transfers are managed overnight.
