About Langley House
Langley House is a residential care home in Wiveliscombe, in the hills of west Somerset. We are a small town home in a small town, and that shapes a great deal about living here. People know each other. The shop and the pub are a walk away. Staff tend to be local, which means they stay longer than they might in a city, and the people who live here benefit from that more than from anything else we could list. We support older adults who need help through the day, and we also support younger adults, including people with a learning disability and autistic people. For some residents this is a home for the rest of their lives. For others it is where they live now while they build towards something more independent, and we are glad to be that rather than a final destination. Days here are not heavily scheduled. There is a garden that gets used, meals that people help with if they want to, trips out, and a good deal of ordinary sitting about and talking. We ask what people want to do and then try to make it possible, rather than offering a programme and hoping it suits. We take respite bookings too, which is often how families first come to us. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Wiveliscombe is a little out of the way, so ring ahead and we will make sure someone has time to show you round properly.
