About Bendalls Farm
Bendalls Farm is a residential care home near Wells in Somerset, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism and adults living with a mental health condition. Most of the people who live here are younger adults, and we also offer respite care for planned short stays. We are not a hospital and we do not run the house like one. This is somewhere people live. That means having your own room and your own things, deciding what you want to do with your day, learning to cook, having a say in the shopping, and being supported to do more for yourself over time rather than having it all done for you. Progress is often slow and it is rarely a straight line, and we would rather work patiently at someone's pace than push them towards a timetable that suits us. Support is agreed with each person and reviewed honestly. Some people need a great deal of structure and reassurance. Others want very little and would rather be left to get on with it, with support available when they ask. We adapt how we communicate to suit the person, because being understood is where everything else starts. The setting is a quiet one, which suits a good many of the people who come to us, and we support people to get out into Wells and the wider area for college, work, appointments and the things they enjoy. If you are looking into a placement or a short stay, please contact us and we will talk it through openly.
