About The Old Rectory
We are The Old Rectory in Radstock, a residential care home supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, and people managing a mental health condition. Most of the people who live here are younger adults. The house works rather like a shared household. People have their own rooms arranged the way they want them, the rest of the house belongs to everybody, and decisions about how things run are made with the people living here rather than for them. Meals get planned together and cooked together where people want to be involved. Support is built around the life each person wants. For some that means a full week of college, work or activities out in the community. For others it means a settled rhythm at home with familiar company. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, whether that is cooking, handling money or travelling independently, we work at it at their pace and we do not assume a ceiling on anybody. Where a mental health condition is part of the picture, we work steadily and keep in close contact with community teams and GPs. Communication is the foundation of this work. We learn how each person expresses what they want and make sure every member of staff understands it. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Please contact us if you would like to visit.
