About Sunnymeade
Sunnymeade is a residential care home in Chard, Somerset. We are home to older people who need daily support, and we also welcome younger adults whose needs are best met in a small residential setting. We provide care for people living with dementia and offer respite stays for those who need somewhere safe and comfortable for a shorter period. We are not a large or formal place, and we do not want to be. People here have their own rooms, their own belongings and their own habits, and we work around those rather than expecting everyone to fall in with a routine. Some residents are up early and out in the garden. Others take a slow morning. Meals are cooked on site and we take requests seriously, because food is one of the genuine pleasures of the day. Supporting people with dementia is a good part of what we do. We spend time learning who somebody is and has been, which makes it far easier to offer reassurance that actually reassures. Patience and familiarity are our main tools. We keep good relationships with local GPs and community nurses so that health needs are picked up early, and we keep families closely involved. Relatives are welcome to visit whenever suits them. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. If you are considering a move for yourself or a family member, please come and see us.
