About Branch House

Branch House is a residential care home in Bridgwater. We provide care for older people, including those living with dementia and those living with mental ill health, and we also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Respite stays are available too. Supporting a mixed group under one roof means we cannot run the home to a single pattern, and we do not try. What we aim for is a place where people are taken as they come and where support is built around the individual. Some residents want a very structured day. Others want the opposite, plenty of freedom and somewhere steady to come back to. For residents with a learning disability or who are autistic, the environment itself is part of the support. Noise, lighting, predictability and somewhere quiet to go all matter, and we learn how each person communicates, including those who use little or no speech. Where sight or hearing is reduced, we keep things where people expect to find them and adapt how we approach and speak to somebody. With dementia, familiar faces and a steady rhythm do most of the work. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit Branch House and ask us anything.
