About Darwin Place
Darwin Place is a residential care home in Much Wenlock, Shropshire. We are a home for adults who need support with daily life, and our door is also open to people who come to us for respite, whether a family carer needs a break or someone simply needs a settled place to recover for a while. Much of our work is with younger adults, including people with a learning disability, autistic people, and people living with a mental health condition. These are very different needs, and no two people arrive with the same history or the same hopes, so we take time to get to know someone properly before we settle into any routine with them. Support here is agreed with the person rather than decided for them, and it changes as they change. In practice that might mean help with personal care and medication, or it might mean encouragement to cook, to manage money, to keep in touch with family, or to get out into Much Wenlock and the countryside around it. We want people to hold on to the parts of their lives that matter to them and to build on those where they can. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat that as a floor rather than a ceiling. If you are considering Darwin Place for yourself or for someone close to you, please get in touch and arrange a visit.
