About Hendra House Residential Home
Hendra House is a residential home in Ludlow, Shropshire. We are home to older people, both for the long term and for shorter respite stays when a family carer needs a rest. We would rather be excellent at basics than average at extras. Food, warmth, laundry, prompt help, and leaving people be when that is what they want. We ask, and then we remember. Preferences written down and ignored are worse than not asking, because the person has told you and nothing changed. Being in a small market town has real advantages. Residents who have lived here for decades know the place far better than we do, and a conversation about the town with somebody who has watched it change over a lifetime is worth having. We are honest about what we cannot do. If somebody's needs would be better met elsewhere we will say so, even when it would suit us to keep them. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it and conscious that it describes a period rather than a fixed quality. Families are welcome to arrive unannounced.
