About Sanderling House

Sanderling House is a residential care home in Liverpool, in the Sefton area, supporting adults with a broad mix of needs. We work with people who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and people recovering from difficulties with alcohol or drugs. Many of the people we support are younger adults building a life rather than winding one down, and that changes what good support looks like. We are not trying to keep people comfortable and occupied. We are trying to help people do the things they actually want to do, whether that is managing their own money, cooking their own meals, getting to a job or college, or simply having the confidence to go out alone. Our support plans are written with the person, in language they can use, and reviewed properly when things change rather than filed away. Where someone has a sensory impairment, we make sure communication genuinely works for them instead of assuming it does. We also offer respite stays, planned in advance so the person knows the house and the staff before they arrive. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of that, though what matters more to us is what the people living here would say about an ordinary Tuesday.
