About Us
Leighton House Retirement Home in Rochdale provides residential care for older people. We are a home rather than an institution, and we try to keep daily life here comfortable, familiar and unhurried.
People get up when they are ready and spend their time as they choose, whether that is in company in the lounge or quietly in their own room with the paper and the radio. Meals are cooked on the premises and we will happily make something different for anyone who fancies it. Support with washing and dressing is given calmly, because how care is given matters as much as what is given.
We ask a lot of questions when someone moves in and we keep asking afterwards, because preferences change and a plan that is never revisited soon stops being true.
We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say so plainly and answer your questions about it than leave you to find it elsewhere, and that work has our full attention.
We also offer respite stays for shorter periods, which families often use to cover a break from caring. Relatives are welcome here throughout the day.
