About Us
We are Heywood Court Care Home in Heywood. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support younger adults whose needs suit a residential setting. Respite stays are welcome.
Moving into a care home is a considerable upheaval, and we try to make it feel less like an ending. People arrive with their own belongings and their own habits, and we work around those rather than expecting everyone to adopt ours. What time you like to wake, whether you want breakfast in the dining room or your own chair, how sociable you feel on a given day: these are your decisions and they stay your decisions.
For people living with dementia, the practical work is in the detail. Learning somebody's history, noticing early what unsettles them, going at their pace instead of the timetable's. That prevents far more distress than it costs.
We also think a home should stay part of its town. Heywood is on the doorstep, and we support people to keep up the connections they already have, whether family, a club or a church.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour and we tell them about changes rather than waiting to be asked. Please ring us if you would like to visit.
