About Us

We at Waterside Court Care Home are proud to offer a welcoming residential care home in the heart of Wallingford, Oxfordshire, where compassion, dignity and comfort guide everything we do. Nestled within this historic market town on the banks of the River Thames, our home provides a peaceful setting for older people and younger adults who need support with daily living, whilst remaining close to the community, amenities and green spaces that make this corner of the South East so cherished.

Our environment has been thoughtfully created to feel like home rather than an institution. Wallingford itself offers a gentle pace of life, with its riverside walks, characterful high street and friendly local atmosphere, and we believe our residents benefit enormously from being part of such a warm community. Inside, we aim to provide comfortable communal spaces where residents can socialise, quieter areas for reflection and reading, and private rooms where personal belongings, photographs and treasured possessions help each resident feel truly at home from the very first day.

The care we offer is broad and tailored to the individual. Our team supports older people who require residential care, providing help with the everyday tasks that can become more difficult with age, whilst always encouraging independence and choice. For those living with dementia, we take a person centred approach, taking time to understand each resident's history, preferences and routines so that familiarity and reassurance sit at the heart of daily life. We also welcome younger adults whose care needs require a supportive residential setting, ensuring that their individuality, aspirations and social lives are respected and nurtured.

We understand too that sometimes families need a little extra support, which is why we offer respite care for shorter stays. Whether a loved one is recovering from a hospital stay, a family carer needs a well earned break, or a resident and their family simply wish to try a stay before making a longer term decision, our respite provision offers flexibility and peace of mind. For families, this practical support can make an enormous difference, knowing that their relative is safe, engaged and looked after by a kind and attentive team.

In practice, our specialisms mean that no two days look exactly alike for our residents. We plan care around the person, not the other way around, and we work closely with families, healthcare professionals and the wider community to ensure that every aspect of wellbeing, physical, emotional, social and spiritual, is considered. Mealtimes, activities and daily routines are shaped by residents' preferences, and we encourage relatives to visit, share meals and take part in life at the home whenever they wish.

Quality and safety underpin everything we do. Following our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection in June 2022, Waterside Court Care Home was rated Good overall, with Good ratings across all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. For families, this independent assessment offers reassurance that our home meets the standards expected of a trusted residential setting, that our team delivers care with warmth and skill, and that leadership at the home is focused on continuous improvement. We do not view this rating as a destination but as a foundation, and we continue to reflect, learn and develop so that the experience of every resident and family only gets better.

Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we recognise the emotions, questions and hopes that come with it. If you are exploring options for a parent, partner, relative or friend in Wallingford or the wider Oxfordshire area, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch to arrange a visit, ask questions or simply have a conversation about what your loved one needs. At Waterside Court Care Home, our door is always open, and we look forward to welcoming you.
