About The Herons

We are a residential care home in Nottingham, offering a settled home to older people who need support with daily life, including people living with dementia. We also take respite bookings, whether planned ahead so a family carer can have a proper break or arranged more quickly while somebody recovers after an illness. The things that make a care home work are mostly small and daily. Getting up when you are ready rather than when a rota says so. Eating what you actually want. Staff who know your name, your family and how you take your tea, and who can tell when you are not quite yourself. All of that depends on having a team who stay long enough to know everybody properly, which is why we put so much into looking after ours. Dementia asks something particular of a home. A day that does not change shape without warning, familiar faces, and staff who understand that behaviour which looks difficult is usually a person trying to say something they can no longer put into words. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome here and we would always rather you came and saw the place for yourself than relied on anything written down. Please contact us and we will arrange a visit at a time that suits you, and we will answer whatever you want to ask.
