About Us
Here at Eastwood House, we provide residential and dementia care for older people in the heart of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. We are a care home that takes its responsibilities seriously, and we want anyone considering us for themselves or a loved one to feel genuinely informed and welcome from the very first conversation.
We specialise in supporting older people, including those living with dementia, and we work hard to ensure that each person in our care is treated as an individual. Daily life here is shaped around the people who live with us, not the other way around. We take time to understand personal histories, preferences and routines, because those details matter enormously when someone is making a home with us.
We want to be straightforward with prospective residents and families. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection resulted in a rating of requires improvement. We do not shy away from that. We have taken the findings seriously and have been working through the areas highlighted with clear focus and commitment. We believe families deserve honesty, and we would rather have an open conversation about where we are and where we are heading than offer reassurances that do not reflect reality.
Our team genuinely cares about the people who live here, and that shows in the day to day relationships that build up over time. Families often tell us that knowing their relative is known and looked after as a person, not just a resident, means a great deal to them.
If you are thinking about care for yourself or someone close to you, we would warmly encourage you to come and visit us, ask questions, and see Eastwood House for yourself. We are based in Nottingham and are always happy to talk through how we might be able to help.

More about the care at Eastwood House
What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.
Older Person Care
Support for older adults in a care home usually means help with washing, dressing, continence, prompting or administering medication, and simply having company through the day. Eastwood House is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide older person care in Nottingham, though its most recent inspection in October 2019 resulted in a rating of requires improvement. Weekly fees across the East Midlands typically fall between £850 and £1100, while Nottinghamshire County Council usually funds placements at roughly £680 to £820 a week, so it is worth asking how any gap would be handled. Families should also ask how morning and evening routines are planned around the resident rather than the rota, how many staff are on duty overnight, how call bells are answered, and how medication reviews are arranged with the GP.
Dementia
Living with dementia tends to be easier when the environment is calm, the layout is easy to make sense of, routines feel familiar, and staff are trained to recognise distress before it escalates. Signage, quiet spaces and consistent faces all help, as does knowing a person's history, preferences and the small things that soothe them. Eastwood House is registered to provide dementia care and speaks openly in its own words about taking time to understand personal histories and routines. Families thinking about a move should ask how the team responds when someone becomes anxious or tries to leave, how nights are managed, how they involve relatives when abilities change, and how they work with GPs and mental health services as dementia progresses.
Respite Care
Respite gives a carer a proper break while an older relative has a planned short stay, and it can also work as a trial before any decision about a permanent move. Eastwood House in Nottingham is registered for respite alongside its longer term places, so ask about minimum stay lengths, notice needed, and what to pack, including medication in original packaging, clothing labelled, and GP details.
Residential Care
Residential care is aimed at people who need help with daily life but do not require round the clock nursing from a registered nurse. That generally covers cooked meals, laundry, housekeeping, personal care, social contact and support with medication, with district nurses called in for clinical tasks when needed. Nursing homes, by contrast, have nurses on site at all times and tend to suit people with more complex health needs. Eastwood House is registered for residential care for older people, so prospective families may want to ask how meals and menus are planned, what happens during a typical afternoon, and how the home works with local GPs and community health teams if needs change over time.
Questions families ask about Eastwood House
Answered from the CQC register where we can. 5 of these the home has not told us yet, so ask when you call.
Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?

Is there a nurse on site if health needs change?
No. Eastwood House is a residential care home without on-site nursing. District nurses and GPs visit, but someone who needs daily nursing may have to move to a nursing home. Source: CQC register

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
No. Eastwood House is registered for older people. Younger adults are not listed. Source: CQC register
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
