About Us
Edward House is a residential care home in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. We are home to older people who need support with everyday life, including residents living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for shorter periods.
Residents tell us when they like to wake, what they want to eat, how much help they want with washing and dressing and how they prefer to spend the day, and the day is built from those answers rather than from a rota that suits us. Help with personal care, meals and medication is given quietly and with respect for privacy, and whatever a resident can still manage for themselves is protected. Dementia care shapes much of our work, so we keep the day familiar and offer reassurance rather than correction when someone is unsettled.
We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not content with that. We have reviewed how we assess and record residents' needs, how we train and supervise our staff and how quickly we act when a resident or a relative raises a concern, and we have treated the findings as a working list rather than a verdict.
Progress of that kind shows up slowly and in small things, so anyone considering Edward House is welcome to visit, look around properly and ask us direct questions about what has changed.
