About Us
We are a residential care home in Wooler, Northumberland, providing a home for older people who need support with everyday life. That includes people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also take respite bookings for shorter stays.
We try to run this as somebody's home rather than as an institution. People bring their own belongings and keep their own habits. Families come and go rather than visiting at set times. Help with washing, dressing, medication and getting about is there when it is needed, and where somebody can manage on their own we leave them to it.
Sight and hearing loss change what good care looks like in practical ways. How you approach a person, how you announce yourself, how a room is laid out, how long you leave for an answer. Small adjustments, but they decide whether somebody feels part of what is going on around them.
We want to be open about the regulator. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are working through the points raised, and we would rather tell you that ourselves than have you find it out after a decision has been made. Ask us and we will say honestly where we have got to.
This is a small and fairly remote part of Northumberland, and being close to family matters here. Please come and see us. Contact us and we will arrange a visit at a time that works for you.

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
