About Us
St Cecilia's is a residential care home in Scarborough, providing a permanent home for older people who can no longer manage safely on their own. We try to run the place as a household, with the ordinary rhythms of meals, company, fresh air and rest.
Our care is residential rather than nursing, which means help with washing and dressing, medication, eating well and moving about safely, alongside the things that are harder to measure but matter just as much: conversation, being listened to and somebody noticing when a person is not quite themselves. We support residents living with dementia, and our approach is to learn each person's history and habits properly so that reassurance can be given in terms that make sense to them. Community health professionals are brought in whenever something more clinical is needed.
Respite stays are available as well, giving family carers a proper rest and letting a prospective resident get the feel of the home before any permanent decision is taken.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please visit during an ordinary day, talk to the people who live here and ask us anything you want to know.
