About Bethany House
We are Bethany House, a residential care home in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people living with a mental health condition, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Where a learning disability and a mental health condition sit together in the same person, support that addresses only one of them will not hold up. So we plan around the person, and we take time to find out what actually helps on a good day and on a difficult one rather than working from the diagnosis. Consistency does most of the work. Familiar staff, a routine somebody can rely on, information given in a form they can genuinely use, and people who do not take a bad day personally. Where a routine matters we protect it rather than asking for flexibility that happens to suit us. Choice runs through the day as far as it can, and where a decision needs support we support it rather than making it. Families and advocates are involved as much as the person wants them to be. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
