About Us
St Peters Court is a residential care home in Wallsend, North Tyneside. We are home to older people and to younger adults who need support with everyday life, including residents living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for people who need care for a shorter period.
We aim to run the house as a home rather than an institution. Residents tell us when they like to get up, what they want to eat, how much help they want and how they prefer to spend the day, and we work from that rather than from a rota that suits us. Support with personal care, meals, medication and appointments is given quietly and with respect for privacy.
Dementia care runs through much of our work. We take time to learn a person's history, the names and places that matter to them and the rhythms that help them feel settled, because that knowledge is what allows us to offer reassurance when someone is anxious or confused. We keep the day predictable and we explain changes in advance where we can.
Families are welcome whenever they want to come, and we would much rather hear a worry early than discover later that something was wrong. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we judge ourselves on whether life at St Peters Court actually feels like home.
