About The Shrubbery

We are The Shrubbery, a residential care home in Rushden, North Northamptonshire. We care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities, and we also take respite bookings for those who need care for a few weeks rather than permanently. Our aim is a home that runs at a human pace. People get up when they wake rather than when a rota says so, eat food they actually like, and spend their days as they choose, whether that is in company in our lounges or quietly in their own room with the radio on. Families and friends are welcome throughout the day, and we would far rather they treated the place as an extension of home than as somewhere they visit formally. We should be open about our current position. The Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement at our most recent inspection. We accept that judgement, we have gone through the findings in detail with our staff team, and we are working steadily through the changes it asked of us. We are glad to talk about that in person and to show what has changed rather than simply asserting it. If you are looking at care in the Rushden area, please arrange a visit. Ask us hard questions, meet the people who live here and see how we respond.
