About Holland House
We are Holland House, a residential care home in Corby in North Northamptonshire. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and younger adults, and we offer respite stays for people who live elsewhere. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are genuinely proud of that, and we are also aware that it describes one moment rather than a permanent state, so we treat it as something to keep earning. What we think sits behind it is fairly ordinary. This is people's home, so they run it. They choose their rooms, their routines, what we eat, where we go and who comes round. We ask rather than assume and we accept being told no. When somebody wants to try something we take it seriously, even when it would be simpler for us if they did not. We also put real effort into understanding how each person communicates, particularly where speech is not the main way somebody tells us things. What we learn gets written down and shared, so that everybody responds in the same way and the place stays predictable. That consistency is what gives people the confidence to take chances. And we listen to complaints properly. Most of what we have improved here came from somebody telling us plainly that something was not good enough. We would rather hear it than not. If you are considering a home for yourself or someone you love, please come and see us and ask us anything you want.
