About Us

At Carseld Residential Home, we provide warm and attentive care for adults in the heart of Brigg, North Lincolnshire. We are proud to support a wide range of individuals, including older people, those living with dementia, adults with physical disabilities, people with visual or hearing impairments, and younger adults who need a little extra help with day to day life.

We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that trust lightly. From the moment someone comes through our door, whether for a short respite stay or as a longer term home, we work hard to make sure they feel genuinely comfortable, respected, and valued as an individual.

Our approach to dementia care is something we think carefully about. We know that each person's experience of dementia is different, so we take time to understand someone's history, their preferences, and what brings them comfort and joy. That same personal approach carries through everything we do, whatever the reason someone is with us.

Respite care is also a key part of what we offer, giving family carers the chance to rest and recharge while knowing their loved one is in safe and caring hands. We aim to make every respite stay feel just as settled and homely as a permanent placement.

We are pleased that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as good, and we continue to work hard to maintain and build on that standard every day.

More about the care at Carseld Residential Home

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

Once washing, dressing and cooking all become difficult on the same day, a care home starts to make sense. Carseld Residential Home is registered for older person care. Staff help with personal care and medication, meals arrive without planning and laundry stops being anybody's worry. Weekly fees across Yorkshire and Humberside commonly fall between £800 and £1050, while North Lincolnshire Council usually pays £650 to £800 for residents it funds. Ask what time residents rise and eat, how much choice they have, and how many staff are awake overnight. It is worth asking too how care plans are reviewed and how families are kept informed.

Dementia

Where dementia is concerned, the building and the routine do a surprising amount of the work. Dementia care falls within the registration held by Carseld Residential Home. Walk from a bedroom to the lounge and the lavatory and judge whether someone confused could manage it unaided. Ask how staff respond to distress, to a resident wanting to leave, and to the same question asked repeatedly. How such incidents are recorded and reviewed is more informative than any description of approach. Ask as well how the home handles later stage dementia and when a move might be needed.

Physical Disability

A lift that works, a bathroom with room to turn and a bed that adjusts are what let a physically disabled resident keep hold of some independence. Physical disability is among the registrations held by Carseld Residential Home. Check which rooms are genuinely accessible, what equipment is in place, and who reviews a moving and handling plan when needs change.

Visual / Hearing Impairment

Lighting, signage and contrast decide how usable a building is for someone whose sight is failing, while a maintained loop decides the same for hearing. Carseld Residential Home is registered to support visual and hearing impairment. Families should ask who looks after hearing aids and how staff learn each resident's preferred way of being addressed.

Younger Adults

A resident of fifty among neighbours in their late eighties needs the home to have thought about company and occupation. Carseld Residential Home is registered to support younger adults. Ask how many residents are currently under 65, how their week is spent, and how freely they can come and go.

Respite Care

Respite is easier to arrange with notice, and most homes expect a minimum of a week or two rather than a few nights. Carseld Residential Home is registered for respite care. Send everyday clothes, toiletries, medication in its dispensed boxes and something familiar for the room. A short stay also works as a trial, which usually tells a family more than repeated visits.

Residential Care

The line between residential and nursing care is drawn by whether a registered nurse works on the premises. Carseld Residential Home in Brigg holds a residential registration. Accommodation, meals, laundry and personal care are covered, with GPs and district nurses visiting when health needs arise. Inspectors rated the home good in July 2023, which is recent enough to be a useful guide. Activities and the feel of the place are still better judged in person, ideally at a mealtime. Ask what happens if a resident's needs grow beyond what residential care can cover.
