About Us
The Anchorage is a residential care home in Grimsby. We are a permanent home to older people and to some younger adults, and we also offer respite stays for those needing care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. Most of our residents need help with washing and dressing, moving about safely, medication given properly and on time, and meals worth looking forward to, with somebody nearby through the night. A good number are living with dementia, and we let that shape the whole house rather than treating it as a separate wing. The day follows a recognisable pattern, familiar staff are around, people keep their own belongings and habits, and somebody who is anxious gets company and time rather than correction. We try to keep the place feeling ordinary. Food is cooked on the premises and people are asked what they would like, there is somewhere sociable to sit and somewhere quiet, and nobody is obliged to join in with anything. Visitors are welcome without appointment. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are pleased with that and clear it has to be earned again every week. We would still rather you came and formed your own view, so please arrange to visit.
