About Us

At Temple Croft Care Home in Grimsby, we provide a warm and homely environment where older people can feel genuinely settled, safe and well looked after. We are part of the local North East Lincolnshire community and that matters to us. We know the area, we understand our residents and their families, and we work hard to make sure that every person in our care feels known as an individual rather than simply a resident.

We specialise in older person care, residential care, dementia care and respite care. Whether someone is joining us for a short stay to recover or rest, or making Temple Croft their long term home, we tailor our approach to suit their needs, routines and preferences. For those living with dementia, we take particular care to create a calm and familiar atmosphere that supports wellbeing and helps reduce anxiety day to day.

Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us as Good, and we are proud of that. It reflects the genuine effort our team puts in each day to get the small things right, not just the big ones. Good care is built on consistency, honesty and real relationships, and that is what we aim to deliver.

Families are always welcome here. We believe that staying connected to the people you love is a vital part of wellbeing, and we encourage visits and involvement in care wherever possible. If you are considering care for yourself or someone close to you, we would warmly invite you to come and visit us, have a look around and ask us anything you like. We find that meeting us in person and seeing the home for yourself is often the best way to get a true sense of whether Temple Croft feels like the right fit.

More about the care at Temple Croft Care Home

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

Dignity in a care home often comes down to whether someone is given time, whether that is in the bathroom or at the dining table. Temple Croft Care Home is registered for older person care, which takes in help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and company. Families should ask how rigid the daily timetable is, whether residents can rise and retire when they choose, and how personal preferences are passed on between staff. Overnight cover is a reasonable thing to ask about directly, including numbers on duty and response times to a call bell. Weekly fees in Yorkshire and Humberside commonly sit between £800 and £1050, while North East Lincolnshire usually pays around £650 to £800.

Dementia

Memory loss is less frightening in a place where the routine never springs surprises and the corridors are short enough to understand. Staff trained in the condition tend to notice agitation building and change the subject rather than push through a task. Temple Croft Care Home is registered for dementia care as well as residential care. Ask how the team responds to distress, what happens if a resident keeps heading for the door, and how the approach changes as dementia progresses. It is also sensible to ask who reviews the care plan and how families hear about changes.

Respite Care

Dates for a short stay are easier to get when asked for months rather than days ahead. Send clothing for the full period, a current medication list and two or three familiar objects, and expect a minimum of one or two weeks. A respite booking at Temple Croft Care Home also doubles as a trial, which tells a family more than any brochure.

Residential Care

The point of a residential home is that the ordinary chores stop being a problem, with meals provided, laundry handled and help on hand for washing and dressing. Nursing homes go further by employing registered nurses, which residential settings do not, relying instead on GPs and community nursing. Temple Croft Care Home in Grimsby is registered for residential care and was rated good when inspected in March 2022. Fees across Yorkshire and Humberside generally run from £800 to £1050 a week, and North East Lincolnshire pays less than that for the beds it funds. Ask what the weekly programme looks like, how much residents are consulted about it, and what would happen if nursing care became necessary.
