About Us
Alderlea Care Home is in Grimsby, and we provide residential care for older people, along with younger adults whose needs are best met in a home of this kind.
Much of our work is with people living with dementia, and with people whose mental health needs shape the support they receive. Neither responds well to a rigid routine, so we do not run one. We keep the day calm, we keep familiar faces around people, and we take time early on to learn somebody's history and habits from them and from their family. That knowledge is what allows us to respond sensibly when a person is unsettled, rather than guessing at it.
Life here belongs to the people who live here. Some want company and whatever is happening in the lounge; others prefer their own room, their own radio and their own peace. Both are fine by us. Families are welcome whenever suits them and we would far rather relatives dropped in than felt they needed an appointment.
We also offer respite stays, which give family carers a proper planned break and support people who need a few weeks of care after illness or a hospital admission.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat it as a floor rather than a ceiling, and we keep asking residents and relatives what could be done better.
