About Us
Dalby View is a residential care home in Middlesbrough, part of Saint John of God Hospitaller, and we support adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. We also offer respite stays, both planned and at shorter notice, for families who need a break or cover.
We run a household rather than a facility. The people who live here have their own space and their own belongings, and they have a real say in how the day goes. The team is deliberately consistent, because support from people who know you well is quite different from support from whoever happens to be on shift. We explain changes in advance, keep the shape of the week predictable, and take sensory comfort seriously, since noise, light and busyness often decide whether a day goes smoothly.
Support covers personal care, medication, meals, money and the practical business of running a home. Throughout, we try to help people do things rather than have things done to them. If somebody can prepare their own breakfast with a prompt, that is a much better outcome than us preparing it for them.
We are just as interested in what happens beyond these walls. College, work or voluntary work, hobbies, friendships and family all matter, and helping people keep hold of them is part of our job.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit and ask us whatever they need to know.
