About Rose House

We are a residential care home in Gillingham, and we aim to run the place as a home before anything else. Residents bring their own furniture and belongings, keep to their own rhythms where they can, and carry on with what they enjoy. We support older people who need help with personal care, mobility and the ordinary business of daily life, and we care for people living with dementia. With dementia our experience is that the useful things are simple ones: familiar staff, routines that stay steady and enough time that nothing has to be hurried. We also support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, taking care over how each person communicates and over what in their surroundings helps them feel settled, and people with a physical disability, working with therapists so that equipment and comfort are properly thought out. Respite stays are available, which can give a family carer a real break or let someone try the home before making a longer decision. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would much rather hear about a concern while it is still small, so we ask residents and relatives regularly and we act on what we are told. You would be very welcome to visit, look round and meet the people who live and work here.
