About Us
Danesmoor Residential Care Home is in Rossendale, Lancashire. We provide residential care for older people and also support some younger adults, with respite stays available alongside permanent places.
We aim for an ordinary, comfortable household. Residents get up when they wake, eat what they actually enjoy and spend their days as they choose. Some are sociable and are downstairs from breakfast onwards. Others would rather have their own room, their own television and a quiet word with somebody who is not in a hurry. Both are perfectly reasonable.
People usually arrive having struggled at home for a while, and the first few weeks are about settling rather than fitting in. We learn routines rather than imposing them, and we ask people to bring their own furniture and pictures so that a room becomes theirs quickly. A room that looks like yours feels very different from one that looks like anybody's.
Having younger adults living here as well means we are careful not to let anyone's day drift into a pattern built around much older residents. Interests, friendships and keeping in touch with the outside world still count.
Respite stays suit family carers needing a proper break and people recovering after illness or a hospital stay, and short stay residents are part of the household rather than guests.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and look round Danesmoor and ask us the awkward questions.
