About Us
Pendle Gardens is a residential care home in Nelson supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and people living with a physical disability, including younger adults.
Our starting point is always the individual. We spend time learning how somebody communicates, what they enjoy, what unsettles them and what helps them settle again, and we make sure the whole team understands those things in the same way. Consistency is what allows a person to relax, and it is also what lets us notice early when something is not right.
The day here belongs to the people who live in the house. People get up when they are ready, spend their time on things that genuinely interest them and keep as much charge of their own routine as they want. Where someone is working towards more independence, whether that is cooking, managing their own money or getting out locally, we look for the practical steps and go at their pace.
Respite stays are available as well, for people who need support for a short period and for families who need a break.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. The measure we trust more is whether people here look relaxed and whether relatives feel free to turn up and ask anything. They are always welcome.
