About Calder View
We are a residential home in Colne supporting adults with learning disabilities, autistic people and people living with mental health conditions. The house is run as a household rather than a service. People living here have their own rooms and their own belongings and a real say in how the place works, from what is cooked to what happens at the weekend. For adults who have often had decisions taken on their behalf, that ordinary degree of control is central to what we are trying to do. Support is arranged around the individual. For some people the priority is staying well: medication, appointments, noticing early when things are becoming difficult and having staff nearby who know them well enough to see it coming. For others it is about doing more, whether that means work, college, volunteering, managing money with a hand from us, or getting out regularly and keeping up with family. Predictability counts for a good deal, particularly for autistic people, so we keep staffing as consistent as we can. Respite stays are available alongside longer places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We prefer to say so plainly rather than leave you to discover it elsewhere. We are working through the matters the inspectors raised and are willing to go through the report with anyone considering the home. Please come and visit. Meeting the people who live here will tell you more than we can.
