About Us

Here at Oakmount House, we provide residential care and mental health support for the people who live with us in Burnley, Lancashire. We are a care home that takes the time to get to know each individual properly, because we genuinely believe that good care starts with understanding who someone is, not just what they need.

Mental health can be a complicated and often misunderstood area, and we work hard to create an environment where people feel safe, respected and at ease. Whether someone is joining us for long term residential care or needs support with their mental health and wellbeing, we approach every situation with honesty and a real commitment to getting things right.

We are proud that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good. That rating matters to us, not as something to display on a wall, but as a reflection of the standard our team works to maintain every single day. We never take it for granted.

Life at Oakmount House is built around the people who call it home. We encourage residents to stay connected to the things they enjoy, to maintain relationships that matter to them, and to have a genuine say in how their days look and feel. Families are always welcome, and we try to be as open and communicative as possible so that everyone involved feels informed and included.

Our team know the residents well and that familiarity makes a real difference. It means we notice the small things, spot when something feels off, and can respond quickly and thoughtfully.

We are rooted in the Burnley community and proud to be part of it. If you would like to find out more about what we offer, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

More about the care at Oakmount House

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Mental Health

Adults living with conditions such as depression, anxiety or long standing psychiatric diagnoses often do better when daily life feels steady, predictable and respectful. Oakmount House in Burnley is registered with the CQC to provide mental health support alongside residential care. Sensible questions to ask include what experience the team has with specific diagnoses, how medication reviews are handled, and what the plan looks like if someone becomes unwell or reaches crisis point.

Respite Care

Short stays are worth enquiring about early, as respite rooms in Lancashire can fill up around school holidays and family events. Oakmount House is registered to offer respite alongside its longer term care. Pack familiar clothing, toiletries, any medication in its original packaging and a list of routines that matter. Many families use a respite booking, rated Good by the CQC at its December 2022 inspection, as a low pressure way to see whether a permanent move might suit later on.

Residential Care

Everyday living support sits at the heart of what residential care offers, covering help with washing, dressing, meals, medication prompts and companionship through the day. Oakmount House is registered with the CQC for residential care, which differs from nursing care in that a registered nurse is not on site around the clock; anyone needing ongoing clinical input from a nurse would usually require a nursing placement instead. Weekly fees across the North West typically sit between £800 and £1050, while Lancashire County Council generally funds around £650 to £800 a week for those eligible, so it is worth asking the home directly about current rates and any third party top up. Families often ask about mealtimes, laundry, visiting hours and how residents are supported to keep up hobbies and see people who matter to them.
