About Us
Edgar Street Residential Home in Accrington, Lancashire, supports adults living with learning disabilities and autism.
Being a small house is the point of the place. With only a few people living here, staff know everyone properly, the week can be built around individuals, and somebody who needs quiet is actually able to find some. It also means the people who live here have real influence over how the house runs rather than a token say in it.
We support people to do as much for themselves as they want to and can, whether that is cooking, shopping, managing money, using local transport or keeping up with college, work and friendships. Where a person needs a lot of support, we give it without making them feel lesser for needing it. We plan communication around each individual and we take changes at a pace people can manage, because rushing somebody through a transition usually costs more time than it saves.
Respite stays are available for short periods of support or to give a family carer a planned break.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Anyone considering a place here is welcome to visit and meet us first.
