About Norcott Lodge

We are Norcott Lodge, a residential care home in Liversedge, Kirklees, supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. This is somebody's home before it is anything else, and we keep asking ourselves whether the day belongs to the people who live here or to our own convenience. Support is built around the individual. We take time to learn how a person communicates, what a good day looks like for them, what unsettles them and what they are working towards. Some people want a busy week with activities, college, work, volunteering or time out in the community, while others need a quiet and predictable rhythm protected. Both are equally valid. Where somebody has a sensory impairment we change how we share information and how we check it has been understood rather than expecting the person to adapt to us. Help with personal care and mobility is given at the individual's pace and as discreetly as possible, leaving as much choice and control with them as we can. Everyone keeps their own room and their own belongings, and family and friends are welcome. We also provide respite stays, which give family carers a planned break and the person staying a genuine visit, so we prepare for them carefully. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us good overall. Please come and see the house on an ordinary day if you are considering us.
