About Us
We are a small residential home on Victoria Road in Huddersfield, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people.
Being small lets the place run as a household. Everyone has their own room and their own things, and the week is worked out between the people who live here and the staff who support them: what is cooked, when the shopping is done, who wants to go out and where to. Those sound like minor matters and they are not. They are most of what separates a home from somewhere a person is simply placed.
Support is arranged around what each person wants to be able to do, whether that is a job, a college course, a regular volunteering day, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff or learning to cook something new. Progress in this work is usually gradual, and the gains that count are often ones nobody outside the house would notice.
Consistency matters a great deal, particularly for autistic people, so we keep staffing as settled as we can and explain changes in advance rather than springing them on people. Respite stays are available as well as longer places.
Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking for a place for yourself or a member of your family, please come and visit and meet the people who live here.
