About Us

We are Aspire in the Community at Longwood House in Huddersfield, a residential care setting supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and people with sight or hearing loss, including younger adults.

Our starting point is always the individual. We spend time learning how somebody communicates, what they enjoy, what unsettles them and what helps them settle again, and we make sure the whole team understands those things in the same way. Consistency is what allows a person to relax, and it is also what lets us notice early when something is not right.

The day here belongs to the people who live in the house. People get up when they are ready, spend their time on things that genuinely interest them and keep as much charge of their own routine as they want. Where somebody is working towards more independence, we look for the practical steps and go at their pace.

Respite stays are available as well.

We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we do, the fairest way to judge us is to visit and ask the team what they know about the people they support.
