About Us

We at Spen Court Care Home are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the heart of Heckmondwike, providing compassionate support for older people, including those living with dementia, across our local Kirklees community.

Nestled within the familiar surroundings of Heckmondwike in the WF postcode area, our home offers residents the comfort of remaining close to family, friends, and the community they know and love. The town setting means loved ones can visit easily, whilst residents enjoy a peaceful, homely environment designed to feel less like a care setting and more like somewhere they truly belong.

Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the older people we support. Through our residential care, we provide day to day assistance with personal care, meals, and companionship, all delivered with dignity and respect. For those living with dementia, we understand how important gentle routine, familiar faces, and a calm environment can be, and our approach is centred on supporting each resident to feel safe, understood, and valued. We also welcome residents with physical disabilities, tailoring our support to promote independence wherever possible whilst ensuring the right level of assistance is always at hand.

We recognise that caring for a loved one at home can sometimes feel overwhelming, which is why we also offer respite care. Whether families need a short break to rest and recharge, or a loved one requires temporary support following a hospital stay, our respite stays provide reassurance that their relative is in kind, capable hands during their time with us.

In practice, this means residents and their families can expect thoughtful, person centred care that adapts as needs change. Rather than a one size fits all approach, we take the time to understand each person's history, preferences, and routines, so that daily life feels familiar and meaningful. Families are welcomed as partners in care, kept informed, listened to, and involved in decisions about their loved one's wellbeing.

Our commitment to quality is reflected in our Overall Good rating from the Care Quality Commission. The CQC found our care to be Good across the Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led domains, recognising the compassion of our team, the responsiveness of our care planning, and the strength of leadership within the home. In the Safe domain, we received a rating of Requires Improvement, and we take this feedback seriously as an opportunity to keep raising standards. Families can be assured that continuous improvement is central to how we operate, and that safeguarding the wellbeing of every resident remains our highest priority.

Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the mix of emotions that comes with it. If you are exploring options for a parent, partner, or relative in the Heckmondwike area, we warmly invite you to get in touch with Spen Court Care Home. Whether you are ready to arrange a visit or simply have questions about what life here is like, we are here to listen, to guide you gently through the process, and to help you feel confident that your loved one will be cared for with the warmth and respect they deserve.
