About Us

We at Wasdale Court are a residential care home located in the welcoming community of Hull, offering specialist residential care for adults with a diverse range of support needs. Our home sits within the HU postcode area of Kingston upon Hull, providing a settled base from which residents can enjoy familiar surroundings whilst receiving the personalised support they deserve.

Our setting has been shaped with comfort and accessibility in mind, offering a homely environment where residents can feel truly at ease. The wider Hull location means residents remain connected to the vibrant life of the city and the Yorkshire and Humberside region, whilst families visiting from across the local authority area can reach us with ease. We aim to create spaces that feel less like an institution and more like home, where individuality is respected and daily life feels meaningful.

The care we provide is designed around the unique needs of each person who lives with us. We specialise in supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, and physical disabilities, and we also welcome younger adults who benefit from care tailored to their stage of life. In practice, this means our team takes time to understand each resident as an individual, learning their preferences, communication styles, routines, and aspirations. Whether someone requires steady daily support with personal care, encouragement to build confidence and independence, or a compassionate presence during difficult moments, we strive to respond with patience and understanding.

We also offer respite care, providing families and regular carers with peace of mind when they need a short break. Respite stays with us are more than a pause in routine; they are an opportunity for the person staying with us to enjoy new company, engaging activities, and the reassurance of a warm and attentive team. Families often tell us that knowing their loved one is somewhere safe and caring allows them to rest properly, returning refreshed and ready to continue their own caring role.

Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection, carried out in July 2025, rated Wasdale Court as Requires Improvement overall. We believe in being open about this. The CQC recognised the strengths of our home in the areas that matter most day to day, awarding us Good ratings for being Caring and Responsive. This reflects the genuine warmth of our team and our commitment to listening to residents and adapting to their changing needs. At the same time, we acknowledge that the inspectors identified areas where we need to strengthen our practice, particularly in relation to being Safe, Effective, and Well led. We take this feedback seriously and are actively working on improvements so that every aspect of life at Wasdale Court reaches the standard our residents and their families rightly expect. Honesty and accountability are important to us, and we would welcome the chance to talk through the specific steps we are taking.

Choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we understand the emotions that come with it. Whether you are exploring long term residential care for a loved one with complex needs, considering support for a younger adult stepping into a new chapter, or seeking a trusted place for respite, we invite you to get in touch with us. Visit, ask questions, meet our team, and see for yourself the community we are building at Wasdale Court in Hull.
