About 1 & 2 Hedgerows
1 and 2 Hedgerows is a small care home at Staplehurst in Kent. We provide residential care for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we support both younger adults and older people. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Being small means people are known in detail rather than in general, and the week can be arranged around a handful of individuals instead of a rota. That matters most when something is wrong, because staff who know somebody well can tell the difference between a bad mood and pain. Where somebody has a sensory impairment as well as a learning disability, we pay particular attention to explaining what is about to happen rather than assuming it is obvious, and to keeping things where the person expects to find them. The people living here have a genuine say in the ordinary decisions about shopping, cooking, their own rooms and their own time. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and social workers are welcome to visit and ask us anything.
