About Us

The Island Residential Home is a care home on the Isle of Sheppey. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, we support people living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places.

Being a small home on the Island shapes what we are. People are known in detail rather than in general, the day can be arranged around individuals instead of a rota, and a change in somebody's mood or appetite is noticed the same day rather than at a monthly review. Many of our residents have lived locally all their lives, their families are close by, and we would far rather relatives dropped in than booked a visit.

The day belongs to the people living here. They decide when to get up, what to eat and where to spend their time. Rooms belong to the people in them, with their own furniture and pictures.

For those living with dementia, we start from the person's own history. What they did for a living, who their family are and what their afternoons used to look like usually explains more than anything in a file.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Please come and visit if you are considering care locally.
