About St James Mews

St James Mews is a residential care home in Dartford, Kent. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities, people with visual or hearing impairment and people affected by alcohol or drug misuse. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We support people whose needs do not always fit neatly into a category, and who have sometimes had a difficult time finding somewhere that will take them on properly. Our approach is to start with the person rather than the label, work out what a good week would actually look like for them, and build the support around that. That means different things for different people here. For one it is a structured and very predictable routine with plenty of warning before anything changes. For another it is support to get out locally, to work or volunteer, to manage money, to keep up with family. We work alongside social workers, mental health teams and health services, and we try to be straightforward with everyone involved. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather tell you that ourselves. We know which areas were identified, we are working through them with the team, and if you come to see us we will be honest about what has improved and what has not yet. Please do come and visit if you are considering St James Mews.
