About Deer Park Care Centre
Deer Park Care Centre provides residential care in Broadstairs for older people, including adults with learning disabilities and autism and people with mental health needs. We also take planned respite stays. Day to day our work is practical and unglamorous. Helping people wash and dress, seeing that medicines are taken properly, cooking meals people want to eat, keeping an eye on health, and making sure nobody sits all day without somebody to talk to. Residents decide how their own days run, and where somebody communicates differently or needs the day to be predictable, we work to that rather than to a general routine. We would rather be straightforward about our inspection position than have families discover it elsewhere. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We are not going to argue with the findings. They described real gaps, and our manager and staff team have been working through them, with tighter medicines practice, clearer records, more training and supervision, and regular internal checks so that problems surface quickly. We know that improvement has to be demonstrated rather than asserted, and we are not there yet. If you are considering Deer Park for somebody, come and look round properly, ask exactly what has changed since the inspection, and speak to residents and relatives while you are in the building.
