About Us

Byrnhill Grove is a residential care home in Ventnor, on the Isle of Wight. We look after older people, including people living with dementia, and we take respite bookings for those who need somewhere for a short stay.

We aim for a home that feels like a house rather than a facility. People keep their own things around them, get up and go to bed when they choose, and spend the day how they wish. Some join in with whatever is happening in the lounge, some prefer their own company, and neither choice is treated as a problem. For people living with dementia we keep the surroundings calm and familiar and we take our cue from the person rather than trying to correct them.

Meals are cooked here, and we pay attention to what people actually want to eat rather than what is easiest to serve. Families are welcome and we would much rather they visited often and informally.

We should be clear about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have looked hard at what the inspectors identified and are working through it. If you are considering the home for a relative, ask us about it and we will give you a straight answer.

Anyone who would like to look round is welcome to arrange a visit.
